A new leak says HMD is preparing an Aura 2 Pro with a 6.75-inch 90Hz LCD, MediaTek Helio G81, 4GB of RAM, a 50MP main camera and a 5,000mAh battery. The important caveat is that HMD has not announced the Aura 2 Pro, its price, launch date or markets. The specifications below come from an HMD-focused leak reported by GSMArena on September 25, 2026, so they should be treated as provisional until HMD publishes product documentation.
HMD Aura 2 Pro leak: the key claims
- 6.75-inch LCD with a 90Hz refresh rate.
- MediaTek Helio G81 chipset with 4GB RAM.
- 128GB or 256GB expandable storage.
- 50MP main rear camera, plus reported 2MP and 0.08MP auxiliary sensors.
- 5MP front camera.
- 5,000mAh battery with 10W wired charging.
- Android 15 Go Edition.
- IP52 rating, side-mounted fingerprint reader and Bluetooth 5.0.
- Meteor Black and Icy Blue colour options.
None of those Aura 2 Pro specifications is manufacturer-confirmed at the time of writing. GSMArena attributes the information to a source with a history of HMD leaks; PhoneSpecX has not independently verified unreleased hardware.
Leaked Aura 2 Pro vs official Aura 2
The most useful way to read the leak is against HMD’s existing Aura 2. HMD’s official Aura 2 material confirms Android 14 Go Edition, 4GB RAM, up to 256GB storage, a 13MP main camera, a 5MP selfie camera, a 5,000mAh battery and repair-at-home support. That gives us a verified baseline without treating the new leak as fact.
| Feature | HMD Aura 2 Pro (leaked) | HMD Aura 2 (official) |
|---|---|---|
| Display | 6.75-inch LCD, 90Hz | Aura 2 display; HMD’s product material does not support applying the leaked Pro panel specification to it |
| Chipset | MediaTek Helio G81 | Different entry-level platform; not used here to infer Pro performance |
| Memory | 4GB RAM | 4GB RAM |
| Storage | 128GB or 256GB, reportedly expandable | 128GB/256GB availability varies by market |
| Main camera | 50MP | 13MP |
| Front camera | 5MP | 5MP |
| Battery | 5,000mAh | 5,000mAh |
| Charging | 10W wired | No Pro charging inference should be drawn from the existing model |
| Software | Android 15 Go Edition | Android 14 Go Edition |
| Repairability | Not established by the leak | HMD Gen1 repairability; HMD says parts such as the screen can be replaced at home |
What would actually be upgraded?
If the leak is accurate, the clearest changes are the larger 90Hz display, Helio G81 platform and 50MP main camera. Those are meaningful specification changes on paper, but they do not establish real-world speed, camera quality or battery endurance. PhoneSpecX has not tested the unreleased phone, so benchmark, thermal, camera and endurance claims would be premature.
The reported 4GB RAM and 10W charging also keep the device firmly in entry-level territory. A 50MP label alone does not guarantee better photos: sensor size, optics, image processing and software tuning matter, and those details have not been confirmed.
The biggest unanswered question is repairability
HMD markets the Aura 2 around low-cost longevity and repair-at-home design. Its official product page says owners can replace components such as a broken screen using HMD’s Gen1 repairability approach. The Aura 2 Pro leak does not establish whether that feature carries forward.
That matters more than the “Pro” badge for buyers who want to keep an inexpensive phone for several years. PhoneSpecX has previously examined this trade-off in our guide to repairable smartphones from Fairphone and HMD. Our HMD Fusion specifications and modular Smart Outfit overview also shows how HMD has used repairability and modular ideas elsewhere in its lineup.
What HMD has not confirmed
There is currently no official HMD Aura 2 Pro product page or launch announcement. That means the following remain unknown: final model name, exact display resolution and brightness, processor configuration, camera sensor details, video modes, Wi-Fi specification, NFC availability, SIM configuration, dimensions, weight, repairability, software-support period, regional variants, launch markets, release date and price.
Those gaps are why this should be read as a leak report rather than a full specification article. Retail listings, certification records or an HMD announcement could still change or clarify the hardware before release.
Does the “Pro” name make sense?
On the leaked specification sheet, “Pro” appears to mean selected upgrades rather than a move into a higher performance class. A 90Hz panel, newer chipset and 50MP main camera would make the device look more competitive beside the Aura 2, while 4GB RAM, 10W charging and Android Go still signal an entry-level target.
The final judgement depends heavily on price. Without an official price or market list, it is not possible to say whether the Aura 2 Pro would offer good value. Comparing an unannounced price against current retail phones would create a buying recommendation on evidence that does not yet exist.
FAQs
Has HMD officially announced the Aura 2 Pro?
No. As of September 28, 2026, the Aura 2 Pro specifications discussed here come from a leak reported by GSMArena. HMD has not announced the phone, price, launch date or markets.
What chipset is the HMD Aura 2 Pro expected to use?
The leak points to a MediaTek Helio G81 paired with 4GB RAM. This is not yet manufacturer-confirmed.
Does the HMD Aura 2 Pro have 5G?
The current leak does not establish 5G support. It would be unsafe to infer network capability from the model name or chipset discussion without official regional specifications.
Will the Aura 2 Pro be repairable like the Aura 2?
That is unknown. HMD officially promotes repair-at-home support for the Aura 2, but the Aura 2 Pro leak does not confirm equivalent repairability.
